Building Engineer

Responsible for the safe and efficient functioning of the building and its equipment. Involved in the upkeep of buildings, including general maintenance, repairs, and the installation of new systems. Experience in HVAC, plumbing and electrical work. Ensure the building is safe and secure while also maintaining the highest standards of building infrastructure. Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills are required.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

· Perform regular inspections and maintenance of building systems to detect and address issues before they become major problems.

· Conduct repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other mechanical systems as needed.

· Coordinate and oversee maintenance and repair projects, including managing contractors and vendors, obtaining quotes, and ensuring work is completed to industry standards.

· Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including conducting regular equipment inventory and creating maintenance schedules.

· Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, troubleshooting issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

· Conduct routine testing and maintenance of fire safety systems, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

· Monitor energy usage, identify inefficiencies, and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce costs and environmental impact.

· Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in building maintenance and recommend improvements to enhance facility efficiency and performance.

· Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs that extend the lifespan of equipment and systems.

· Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and codes, promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.

 

Qualifications

· Minimum 2 years in a Building Engineering role with hands-on experience.

· High school diploma or equivalent, technical certification in a relevant field is a plus.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

· Working knowledge of energy conservation required, formal training preferred.

· Certification meeting OSHA awareness training requirements as required.

· HVAC, plus universal level refrigerant recovery license (EPA).

· Proven experience in building maintenance and repair.

· Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

· Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members.

· Knowledge of safety protocols, building codes, and regulatory standards.

· Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

· Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems in beneficial.
