Position Summary
The Regional Director of Operations (RDO) provides strategic and operational leadership for approximately seven skilled nursing facilities located in Granite City, IL and the surrounding region to the north. This leader ensures each community delivers exceptional clinical care, operational performance, regulatory compliance, financial stability, and a culture that supports residents, families, and staff. The RDO serves as a key partner to Administrators, Regional Clinical leadership, and the corporate executive team.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Provide direct oversight of daily operations for assigned skilled nursing facilities, ensuring strong performance across census, quality, compliance, staffing, and financial metrics.
Coach and support Facility Administrators to achieve organizational goals and maintain consistent operational excellence.
Ensure effective implementation of company policies, systems, and best practices.
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
Lead preparedness and response for state and federal surveys, ensuring ongoing compliance with CMS, IDPH, and other regulatory bodies.
Partner with clinical and compliance teams to improve quality outcomes, reduce deficiencies, and maintain strong survey histories.
Monitor QAPI programs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Financial & Business Performance
Manage regional budgets, financial forecasts, and performance indicators across all assigned facilities.
Analyze financial and operational data to identify opportunities for growth, efficiencies, and expense management.
Support optimization of reimbursement, payer mix, admissions processes, and overall revenue cycle performance.
People Leadership & Culture
Recruit, mentor, and develop Facility Administrators and leadership teams to ensure stability and strong performance.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, high standards of care, and employee engagement.
Partner with HR to address staffing needs, retention strategies, and leadership development.
Strategic & Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with community partners, referral sources, residents, families, and regulatory agencies.
Collaborate with corporate leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives at the regional level.
Represent the organization professionally and foster a positive reputation within the healthcare community.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field).
Minimum 3–5 years of multi-facility leadership experience in skilled nursing/long-term care—overseeing multiple SNFs is required.
Active Illinois Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success in managing operational, financial, and regulatory outcomes across multiple facilities.
Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, IDPH requirements, and value-based care metrics.
Proven ability to coach and motivate teams, build culture, and lead through change.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to travel regularly within the assigned region.
