Come join a great team as a bookkeeper/accountant in the flower farm industry managing the unique financial lifecycle of agricultural and floral production. Track fluctuating costs of goods sold (seeds, fertilizers), oversee seasonal labor payroll, and monitor perishability and inventory, and mostly A/R using QuickBooks.
Core Responsibilities:
Crop Cost Accounting: Track all expenses related to crop cycles, including the cost of seeds, bulbs, soil, fertilizers, irrigation, and packaging materials.
Payroll & Labor Management: Process payroll for diverse staff tiers, including full-time employees, seasonal planting/harvesting crews.
Inventory & Shrinkage: Reconcile inventory levels, account for crop spoilage/waste.
General Bookkeeping: Process accounts payable (vendor invoices for supplies, shipping) and accounts receivable (wholesale orders, florist accounts).
Financial Reporting: Prepare weekly/monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, cash flow projections, and balance sheets to help farm managers gauge profitability.
Tax & Compliance: Organize documentation for agricultural tax incentives, ensure compliance with labor laws, and assist CPA/tax professionals with year-end tax preparation.
Banking & Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, manage agricultural loan payments, and oversee credit terms with suppliers.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Agribusiness (preferred).
Experience: 2-4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in agriculture, horticulture, or a similar inventory-based industry.
Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in cloud-based accounting software like QuickBooks Online, Xero, or agricultural-specific ERPs like Smart. Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with floral market, seasonal cash flow cycles, and supply chain logistics is a plus+
