Funeral Director-Embalmer

This Funeral Home is located 35 miles outside of Charlottesville VA. and if the commute is too far we are open to assisting you with relocation costs to move to the area.
Duties
- Coordinate all aspects of funeral services, including planning, scheduling, and executing ceremonies that reflect families’ wishes.
- Manage transportation of the deceased with sensitivity and adherence to safe lifting practices and manual handling protocols.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients, offering guidance, and addressing their needs compassionately.
- Assist families with administrative tasks such as records management, documentation, and completing necessary legal paperwork.
- Embalming descendants, and conduct heavy lifting safely when preparing the deceased for viewing or burial, following proper procedures to ensure cleanliness and safety.
- Participate in on-call coverage to respond promptly to emergency or last-minute service requests at any time.
Requirements
- Valid Virginia Funeral Director License
- Valid Virginia Embalming License
- Experience in funeral directing or mortuary services with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent client communication & ability to work compassionately with families.
- Knowledge of funeral & mortuary services procedures, including legal documentation and records management.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience driving large vehicles preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours including on-call shifts for emergency response coverage.
