Director of Nursing

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our clinical team at our skilled nursing facility. The DON is responsible for overseeing all aspects of nursing operations, ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and effective team management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the nursing department, ensuring high standards of care.

  • Oversee daily clinical operations and delegate responsibilities appropriately.

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff performance.

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including CMS and OSHA.

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality assurance initiatives.

  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care plans and participate in resident care planning.

  • Act as a liaison between residents, families, staff, and healthcare professionals.

  • Prepare for and participate in surveys and inspections.

  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage and optimal care delivery.

  • Manage infection control, safety practices, and risk management protocols.

  • Participate in budgeting and resource allocation for the nursing department.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid RN license in the state of [Insert State].

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.

  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations for skilled nursing.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to mentor and build high-performing clinical teams.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience as a DON or ADON in a skilled nursing facility.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (e.g., PointClickCare).

  • Successful track record with state surveys and quality initiatives.
